Once you've mastered this technique, you can buy pattern books from another country, and as long as the pattern is diagramed in symbols, you can do it. Are there patterns which seem so confusing you think there is a typo in the directions, but it's too difficult to figure out while you are stitching? This is the solution! VC603P Flat Tapestry Crochet. Carol Ventura. Tapestry crochet enables an artist to create unique and sturdy tapestries with only a few dollars worth of equipment. It differs from ordinary crochet in its texture, tension, and how colors are worked. Students will execute a small flat tapestry over the 3-hour period. Specially designed graph paper will allow each participant to design his/her own unique tapestry. Any type of two-dimensional image may be used for inspiration: photographs, slides, drawi ngs, illustrations, etc. Abstract or simple designs can be drawn directly onto the "tapestry" graph paper. Photographic or complex images can be projected and traced onto "tapestry" graph paper, then transferred onto square-ruled graph paper.
