Description: Learn to make your own reproduction Victorian crocheted button or brooch as pictured. Made mostly with a single crochet stitch except for the bullion center that you will learn to make in the class.
Goals: complete a button/brooch, learn to change gauge within a piece by varying tension of stitches, learn bullion stitch, read about history of crocheted buttons
Yarn and Hook Used: #12 pearl cotton, #11/12 steel hook
Stitches Student Must Know: single crochet, triple crochet, slip knot, slip stitch
Skills Required: crochet with small thread (#12 pearl cotton), read written crochet instructions
Length of Class: 3-4 hours
Time to complete: approx. 3 months
Finished Size: 1.5 inches
Materials Provided: two 1/4 inch PETE rings, two 5/8 inch brass rings
Materials Student Provides: #12 pearl cotton, #11/12 steel hook, 1.25 inch button mold, 3 inch square lining fabric, optional - 1 inch pin back
