Description: Learn tapestry crochet while completing a fashionable and useful bag. Students will learn to carry a thread, how to do the tapestry crochet stitch and how to crochet in the round, as well as read about the history of tapestry crochet.
Goals: Complete a tapestry crochet bag, learn to carry a thread, learn the tapestry crochet stitch, learn how to crochet in rounds, and read about history of tapestry crochet
Yarn and Hook Used: mercerized cotton, E/4 (3.50mm) hook
Stitches Student Must Know: chain, single crochet, slip knot, slip stitch
Skills Required: ability to read written crochet instructions
Length of Class: 5 to 6 hours
Time to complete: approximately 3 months
Finished Size: 5" wide x 8" high (without strap)

Materials Student Provides: one blue (color 251) and one white (color 800) 100 gram balls (185 yds. Each) three-ply Saucy 100% mercerized cotton by Reynolds (JCA Fashion Yarns, 35 Scales Lane, Townsend, MA 01469, 800-225-6340) or a similar substitute, E/4 (3.50 mm) hook
