Additional details
For the sweater you'll wear a thousand times or the blanket you'll use every night, our classic wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses. Wonderfully warm for all weather, this sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. It is ideal for cabled sweaters, textured stitch afghans, and everyday accessories.
Wool of the Andes Superwash is the same worsted weight Peruvian wool, specially treated to prevent felting so you can enjoy all the warmth, structure, and durability of wool with the convenience of machine washing. Usable for all the same things as regular Wool of the Andes, the superwash version is particularly excellent for projects that are heavily used or difficult to hand wash, such as gloves, blankets, and children's clothes.

Got mine today and immediately made fingerless gloves with it (I've managed to make both with a single skein in Dove Heather). It's super warm, and while it does have the kind of bite you'd imagine from a 100% non-merino wool yarn (even with the superwash treatment), it's still plenty soft and you can tell just by touching it that it'll do what a wool yarn should do, a.k.a. keep you insulated. I'll probably make a sweater or a sleeveless vest with it eventually, something I'll be able to wear on cooling autumn days on top of something else.

Not the softest of yarns. Did soften up some after washing but wouldn’t use for next to skin garments.

Oh my. I've used this yarn for years and have always loved it---still do! The great number of colors means I can design in solids, or mix analogous colors for beautifully blended items, which I do very often. I've never found it to be scratchy, but I always wear my wool sweaters over long sleeved cotton turtlenecks for the layered look, and I also live in a cold winter climate. I don't hesitate to recommend it.

The material of the yarn is good, but I am mainly warning users that the color "Almond" has very distinct pink/red undertones. It is not just a Kahki/Tan color.

I have orderde a large amount over the years of this yarn. and even though you say in some reviews its scratch its not really. being mom is a crocheter it crochets just like a worsted and as you use it as you should know it softens up as you touch the product over time with the oils in your fingers and skin to soften it more. Its an a excellant yarn. and we will always use more in the fututre.

Glad you had another sale! Purchased a different color that is just as pictured (blossom Heather). Especially soft after wash with kookaburra special wool wash. White hit chocolate coat is looking good! (In pink)0

This yarn is NOT suitable FOR BABY items ! I purchased this yarn relying on reviews of several costumers that prized this yarn as soft and good for baby blankets - it is not. It is scratchy and stiff and I will have to return my order. I would not use it for adult items that touch the skin either. Colors are beautiful though, and I do not mind it not being really worsted weight, but most people might.

Beautiful yarn. I love I can wash wool. I’m in California and normally don’t need this weight. I tried it because of a sale. Such nice wool is beautiful in Aran Shawls for chilly nights because it breaths. Doesn’t split, can take being torn out from mistakes and has great stitch definition. Color was nicer than picture (persimmon Heather). I honestly don’t understand the complaints.

I absolutely fell in love with this yarn. It's a pretty light/thin worsted yarn, but I love that. A lot of times I use heavy worsted yarns, my projects do not get the desired result, but instead of being bulky and stiff, this yarn gives those projects a delicate finish. The heather colors offered are absolutely beautiful especially Haze Heather, my go to color. I would say the only downside is that this yarn kind of splits a lot but that being said, it is still my favorite worsted yarn. Like, ever.

This is my go-to yarn; I primarily make baby blankets with it. It's warm, soft enough for baby things, and washes up nicely. It has good stitch definition and has a soft, squishy quality that makes it comfy and cozy. It wears well, too. Several folks who I've gifted a blanket of this to get loads of wear out of it and from all the photos they send, it doesn't pill or get worn down. In fact, I'm back to buy more for another baby blanket. I've tried other yarns that are well known (i.e. Cascade 220) but this just has a great squish to it that's perfect for what I use it for.

I love this yarn. I thought it was really scratchy at first, but after washing and wearing it has softened up a bit - soft enough that my baby enjoys cuddling the shawl I made. I used Fairytale and it is a vibrant jewel tone that really stands out.

I love the price, color selection and washability of this yarn. The colors matched up with what I was expecting from the website. I crocheted a ripple blanket with at least 8 different colors and hand washed it (as per instructions) and it turned out just fine.

I've avoided wool forever as it makes me itch, but this Superwash is a pleasure to use. My first project has been completed - a 12 ft long 'Dr. Who' scarf for my son's 40th birthday. Its hard to say who is more pleased.

I love Wool of the Andes, but compared to the merino superwash it is a bit scratchier. Yet, for the price and lovely color selection I’m willing to go for it.
