I love this unique cotton/linen blend with its chainette construction. I admit, I wasn’t sure at first. It felt a little like crocheting with waxed dental floss and I wasn’t sure I would like it on my skin so I washed the first panel of my top in Soak and water and laid it flat to dry. That softened it right up. The colors are tough to gauge from the photos. Swan is definitely an ivory color (not too yellowish, but there’s definitely a hint of yellow in it). Plum is a medium cool brown with MAYBE the slightest hint of purple in there, maybe! The drape is fab and improved with washing. It is great for garments and as long as you are a little careful not to let it get snagged, I think it will hold up for years!

Lindy Chain is so versatile! I have made many things out of it from headbands to tops and they all turn out great and look beautiful years later. I am currently making the tunic tee from Crochet Foundry (either the spring or summer issue, I can’t remember). Anyway, you cannot go wrong with this yarn. I especially love the “chain” because it never unravels as you work it. It is fabulous!

Just received my order of Lindy Chain in Conch. I expected a lighter color, kind of like the inside of a sea shell. The color is like a dark coral, kind of dull. I will not be able to use for the project I planned. I will not return it because I already paid $5.99 for shipping and the return would be another $6.99, for a $13 purchase. Hopefully I can use it for something else.

This is my favorite crochet yarn. Yes, it’s a bit splitty, but the end result is gorgeous! Slight shine, nice texture and drape. Please add WHITE color! Swan is not even close to white, more like light beige, ivory color. It’s not bright enough and not too flattering on my skin.

I love this yarn! I used it to make the Astonish Top, also available here, out of Conch with the purl stripes in Harbor. I agree that the thumbnail for Conch is not true to color, but the top-left photos of multiple colors show the peachy color properly. Harbor is true to color. The yarn is splitty, yes, but that's a feature of chainette yarns so I don't count that as a negative. It's a very affordable linen so I'd love to make more summer garments with it!

I LOVE this yarn. It is so smooth to work; however, as previously mentioned it does not have a lot of stretch and since it is a woven or chain of yarn it can be easy to split the yarn. This is my second or third project and a linen/cotton blend will be right up my alley for a light weight sweater!

I love this yarn! I used it to make curtains. It seemed scratchy when crocheting with it but is so soft now that I washed them I want to make a summer throw blanket.

I've read that others feel the colors shown are not true to the actual. It has to be the differences in monitors as I have ordered Bluebell and Whisper and both colors are Exactly as shown! Yes, the yarn has a "rough" hand at first, but softens dramatically after washing. Both colors were used for sweaters and now I'm going back for a third time!

This is my favorite yarn, I crochet and have made 5 garments with it working on the 6th. While stiff and scratchy at first it softens with first wash and gets softer with every wash. It does grow so I do block. The drape is awesome and perfect for Vicky Chan's Jordan.

I'd rate this as Excellent if only the colors were even remotely like either the photographs or the description. I knew (from a friend) that Linen is actually more of a warm tan, but honestly? Gosling is shown as and described as a grey. Not even close. It's a very definite mossy green. It's a very nice color, but I needed a grey...and this green is an exact match of another yarn I already own. If you'd like a "soft linen yarn" - this is very nice. But if you are picky about color: either order a single ball or choose a different yarn.

So far, I love this yarn... it is not splitty at all and works into a beautiful drapey fabric. The colour is not accurate to the photo online... is more like it has a touch of gray in it. I bought Bluebell and it is not as bright. The blue is a touch grayer and not as bright blue as the picture.

This makes a lovely, drapey, summer sweater. The color stayed nice and crisp.

Do not believe the color on your monitor! However, trust in the quality of the yarn. If the color is super important I would hesitate to order. If you don't mind as long as it is within a general area then order with confidence. For example I ordered Linen and Plum I got tan and brown. As this is for my store and not a personal gift I am okay with it. But if I had got the colors shown on my monitor it would have been a gift for my daughter, and it would have been gorgeous! They must update the colors I am not the only person noticing the huge difference! Good luck and Happy Hooking!

I absolutely love this yarn. I use it all the time for crochet bikini tops, cropped tanks and summer shrugs. And best of all, I feel like all my hard work pays off as this yarn won't fuzz up or get crappy after so many washes. It seems to only get better as the years go by.

Love this a lot. I was hoping that swan would be whiter than it is. It is more of a cream color. Swan seemed whiter when I used the color in the dishie yarn. Perhaps it just looks that way next to the blue I used. I loved the yarn anyways. I thought that the project was awful until I washed it and then it was so nice and soft. This was my first project in linen, and I will definitely be using Lindy Chain again.

yes, why not a pure white? I got "Swan" and it was nearer to cream than white ie. darker than illustrated. It's lovely anyway, but I'll try what they do where I come from (Ireland) - lay the garment on the lawn in full sun to bleach it, which, of course, is why fine Irish linen is called lawn. If it works in Ireland it'll certainly work in Florida. Thank you to the ladies who suggested washing the yarn before use. I wish I'd known this before - it would have saved me from calluses and raw fingers!

I made a spring sweater out of this yarn held double to get the gauge I needed. It does indeed soften up after washing. Although the directions do not say to do so, I tossed mine in the washer with the regular laundry and then in the dryer. The softness improves tremendously with each washing. Make a swatch and test your gauge, however, because it tends to shrink lengthwise-- but then the sweater seems to stretch out over the course of the day. Great yarn!

I am enjoying making a top with this yarn. Found a pattern that is top down and uses this weight yarn. I live where it is warm so this will be so nice to wear for a garment.

I love this yarn. I have used it to in place of a lace-weight linen yarn for both vest and shawls, and the results are beautiful. Yes, it does split, but that is the nature of a hollow braided yarn. The yarn reforms easily, though, and I have had no other difficulty.
