For projects that take no time, truly make a statement, and can provide warmth on the worst of winter days, reach for Wool of the Andes Bulky! Made from 100% Peruvian Highland wool, it’s a heavy-weight yarn that works up quickly into thick, cozy projects. Peruvian Highland wool is a strong fiber that has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape, and this sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. As a bulky-weight yarn, it creates a cushy, irresistible, thick fabric that stitches up in a flash, making it perfect for last-minute gifts, speedy sweaters, and quick accessories. Wool of the Andes’ curated color palette is just as versatile as the yarn itself, with a mix of solids and heathers to choose from.
Use Wool of the Andes to create bouncy cables, gorgeous textures, or beautiful colorwork. As a "sticky" wool–meaning the fibers grip lightly together–Wool of the Andes Bulky is a great choice for colorwork because stitches "stick" in place and won’t shift or loosen as you work, and the curated selection of saturated colors provides a wonderful palette for projects. In addition to being great for projects where your stitches are on display, Wool of the Andes also felts beautifully with warm water and agitation, creating a dense, durable fabric with structure for felted slippers, bags, and beyond.
For a convenient, machine-washable option, try Wool of the Andes Superwash Bulky.

Beautiful color and easy to work with! Only complaint is that when I soaked the project it smelled very strongly of dye. Once completely dried it no longer smelled, but there was a strong chemical smell both times I have soaked it so far.

Great bulky weight yarn! I’ve made many, many handbags from this yarn. It felts up very nicely. Please don’t discontinue this yarn. When will the new colors be available for sale?

I love this yarn. It is easy to work with, has beautiful, consistent colors, and makes a nice, warm blanket. I made a mermaid pouch for my sister for her birthday, and it has been a year since - there is minimal pilling and still has great integrity. A very durable yarn. I am hesitant to work with anything else.

Had some problems with imperfections in yarn but overall, not too many for the amount I purchased.

This is wonderful yarn. I was looking for a nice bulky rich red to make Carol Feller's "Tembo" sweater, and this was *perfect*! It made a beautiful sweater coat, quick, no pilling, no splitting - just great. And for a sweater coat made in a large size, it's not heavy. The coat is warm, beautiful, and a joy to wear. Can't wait to use it again!

Squishy, soft, and lovely to work with. Crush is a glorious hot pink. I seriously can't stop looking at it. Curiously, it's listed under red if searched by color.

I agree with Susie, on all her points: The hand-painted version of this line was great, and I too wish I had purchased more for my stash. I bought the Robin's Nest (for obvious reasons!), Cherry, Forest, Firecracker (I think that's what the red/orange/yellow one), the black/grey/white, the purple/blue, and (can't remember what they were called), and made gorgeous blankets and throws with them, which are being enjoyed by their recipients. If you are going to bring anything back, please consider bringing the hand-painted line back. PS- I still have the 10 hanks of the Firecracker. Can't decide on whether to make something for myself or someone else.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this yarn! Everything from the colors to the warmth... I'm just so sad that they did away with several of my favorite colors this year. Please bring the colors back... :'(

This is one of my very favorite bulky yarns. Great wool to work with, and the stitch definition is beautiful. Great color selection and I think a great value.

I love this yarn. I think it's a bulky. I met gauge just fine on the bulky pattern I just finished making. After soaking and blocking, it is incredibly soft. I am extremely pleased with this yarn.

I love all the Wool of the Andes but I use this the most. I have only had one issue with color bleeding and that was on the beach glass, all the other colors I have used there was no issue. I have found a few join knots but nothing that bothers me. It is a great buy for your bulky projects.

This yarn is so awesome! I ordered Blackberry, Lumberjack and Stormy all of which are very soft in my opinion for wool. I can't wait to get more of this!

This yarn is great. Very easy to work with, and in a beautiful color. It felt a bit scratchy when I first started working with it, but it softened throughout the process, and after soaking and blocking, it's nice and soft. There were a knot per skein, which wasn't ideal, and the dye stained the surface I used for blocking, but overall these were minor issues, and I'd definitely buy this yarn again.

Color is lovely and yarn works up really well. I would say it definitely is a bulky yarn, but it's not overly difficult to work with and still has good definition and drape. Love it!
