Description

Now your interchangeable cables have even more options! Use this cable connector to attach two cables together into an extra-long cord! This is very useful in Tunisian crochet for crocheting wide afghans, shawls, or lengthwise scarves. There is a hole in the center of this cable connector, so you can tighten it with a key, the same way that you attach a cable to an interchangeable hook. Each cable connector is 1.5 inches long, and you will receive 3 cable connectors and a key in each set.

I bought these so I can temporarily lengthen the cable on a WIP to try it on. I unscrew my needles, attach a second cable then put end caps on both ends. The extended cable allows enough stretch to get the WIP over my shoulders or hips. The join at the connector is totally smooth and snagless so I'm looking forward to using the connectors to create longer cables for large shawls or blankets. I echo what another reviewer said about the threading. It takes some fiddling to screw on the connector, especially if the cable I'm adding on is long.

About a year after the option cables were made available I wrote to the company about this idea, the cable connectors, & was told what a dumb idea they were. Well, low & behold, there they are-a simple thank you would have sufficed.

I love the idea of these, but they have one inherent major flaw from an engineering standpoint. The ends are threaded in the opposite direction; so if you’re mid project and adding a section of cable, one end screws on and the other end unscrews. It was maddening. If they were threaded the same direction, they would stay tight and not come loose. I ended up wrapping a piece of packing tape on the connector for insurance that it didn’t come undone. When they see screwed in tightly, they are smooth and worked well, but I think the design could use some tweaking.

These work exactly as advertised. I have used them to connect two 60" cables to make a blanket in the round (from the outside in). Because of the interchangeable nature, I was able to remove a cable when I got to the middle and had fewer stitches. They're very convenient!

This is the most wonderful little tool - almost on a par with the wheel and a mouse trap for making the interchangeable cords long enough for the biggest project

When I need to take my needles off a work in progress, I leave the work on the cable and use these to connect the ends together so my stitches won't slip off. I also put a needle size tag on the cable so I will know what size needles I was using.

Bought these for my options needles and the join is so smooth! I was a little worried about the yarn snagging but it didn't!

Omg I can't wait! I was just looking on a lark because I want to entrelac a covertlet for our queen bed. This will make it so much easier to make sure I don't get unwanted pools of color!
